Terms of Service

These Terms of Service are a contract between you and Recall Kitchen, LLC, an Iowa limited liability company (“Recall Kitchen,” “we,” “us”). They cover the consumer web app, recall search and public share pages, watchlists and email alerts, inventory, Scan, and the developer API and MCP, including paid access. The API Terms and the Acceptable Use Policy are part of these Terms for the features they describe. The Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. The Cookie Policy explains cookies.

The Services

Recall Kitchen aggregates and republishes recall notices and safety alerts from public sources, including the U.S. CPSC, FDA (food and MedWatch), USDA, and NHTSA, Health Canada / CFIA, and selected retailers, and links to the official source. The Services include:

Anonymous paid access after a free quota, using x402 (USDC on Base)

The consumer product is free. We do not take a card payment in the app. Programmatic use past the free quota is described in the API Terms.

How you may use Recall Kitchen

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Services for personal use and for legitimate commercial use, including a household, restaurant, store, or other business. That license is subject to these Terms, the API Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, rate limits, and the rules of your account.

You may not resell, sublicense, or white-label the Services. You may not scrape, harvest, or bulk-export the Services except as the API Terms allow. You may not pull recall data out to build a competing database or to present Recall Kitchen alerts as if they were an official government notice.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. You may not use them if United States law bars you from doing so. Creating an account is your confirmation that you are at least 13. If we learn that an account is used by a child under 13, we will close it and delete the personal information we are not required to keep. See the Privacy Policy.

Accounts

Some features require an account. Sign-in on the website is provided by Auth0. You agree to give accurate account information and to keep it current. You are responsible for activity under your credentials. Do not share your password or API keys. Tell us at [email protected] if you believe an account or key is compromised.

We may suspend or close an account, or revoke a key, if you violate these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, or the API Terms, or if we reasonably believe the account is being abused.

Alerts and email

Email alerts are transactional messages about recall notices that matched watches or inventory you set. You are responsible for your notification settings, including severity and places. Delivery can be delayed or can fail, including because of spam filtering. An alert is not a statement that a particular item you have is the recalled one. Read the linked official notice.

You can change or stop alerts in the app’s Settings. Our alert emails include a postal address for Recall Kitchen, LLC and a way to manage notifications.

Your content and Scan

You keep ownership of content you submit, including watch patterns, inventory entries (such as name, brand, category, and SKU), and photos you upload on Scan. You grant Recall Kitchen, LLC a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, modify, and display that content as needed to operate the Services. Modification includes recompressing photos and removing location metadata. The license also covers, by default, using uploaded Scan photos and corrections you make to improve barcode and product detection.

To opt out of that detection-improvement use, or to ask us to delete stored Scan photos, email [email protected]. A settings control for this choice is not available yet. Email is the opt-out until it is.

Stored Scan photos are recompressed. GPS and similar metadata are stripped before storage. The barcode camera on Scan reads codes in your browser. Camera frames from that mode are not uploaded. We receive the decoded code so we can look up the product and matching notices.

You can delete a scan in the app. You choose the photo, the saved details, or both. A deleted photo is removed from your account and is no longer used to improve detection. Products you already added to inventory stay until you remove them. Email [email protected] to request a partial deletion or a full deletion of your account.

Do not submit content you do not have the rights to share, or content that is illegal. We may remove content and close accounts that violate this section or the Acceptable Use Policy.

Recall data and safety

Recall Kitchen is not the FDA, CPSC, USDA, NHTSA, Health Canada, or any other government agency, and it is not a retailer. We are a private company. We do not issue recalls.

Recall data is aggregated and republished from third-party, government, and retailer sources. It may be incomplete, inaccurate, delayed, or mismatched to the product you have. Sources can change or remove a notice after we index it. Our copy can lag.

If this Service and an official source notice conflict, the official source controls. Follow the linked official notice and the manufacturer’s or regulator’s instructions.

Recall Kitchen does not provide medical, legal, or safety-professional advice. It is not a substitute for reading the official recall notice. Matching — including watch patterns, Scan, and inventory — can miss a recalled product (a false negative) or flag a product that is not the one in the notice (a false positive). A clear search result is not a safety certificate.

Official notices may instruct consumers to stop using, not eat, return, or discard a product. Those instructions come from the official source. Follow that source. Do not treat wording in the app as Recall Kitchen’s own command to you.

Disclaimers of warranty

The Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent permitted by law, Recall Kitchen, LLC disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement, and any warranty that the Services will be accurate, complete, timely, uninterrupted, or error-free. You use recall information at your own risk.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Recall Kitchen, LLC and its members, employees, and contractors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising out of or related to the Services or these Terms, even if we were advised of the possibility.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising out of the Services or these Terms is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid to Recall Kitchen, LLC for the Services in the twelve months before the claim and (b) one hundred U.S. dollars (US$100) if you paid us nothing in that period. This limit does not apply to liability that the law does not allow us to limit.

Indemnity

You will indemnify and hold harmless Recall Kitchen, LLC and its members, employees, and contractors from claims, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses (including attorneys’ fees) arising out of your misuse of the Services, content you submit that you did not have the rights to submit, your violation of law, or your violation of these Terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, or the API Terms. This section does not require you to indemnify us for our own fraud or for liability the law does not allow to be shifted to you.

Intellectual property and notices

The Services, including our software, copy, and branding, are owned by Recall Kitchen, LLC or its licensors. These Terms do not transfer that ownership to you. Recall notices remain the property of their authors. We republish them so you can find the official source.

Copyright complaints under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act may be sent to Recall Kitchen, LLC, Iowa, United States, at [email protected]. Include the information 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3) requires. A designated agent street address is not published on this page yet. We will forward a street address when one is on file, and we will update this page.

Governing law and venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Exclusive venue for disputes arising out of these Terms or the Services is the state or federal courts sitting in Iowa, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. We are not adding a mandatory arbitration clause or a class-action waiver in these Terms.

If a court holds a provision unenforceable, the rest of these Terms stay in effect.

Changes

We may update these Terms. We will post the new text on this page and change the “Last updated” date. If a change is material, we will also provide a notice in the app or by email to the address on your account. Continuing to use the Services after the new Terms take effect means you accept them. If you do not agree, stop using the Services and email us to close your account. When we need a new acceptance, the app will ask you before you continue.
