API, MCP, and x402 Terms

These terms govern programmatic use of Recall Kitchen, LLC’s HTTP API and MCP server, including API keys and x402 payments. They supplement the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy. If they conflict with the Terms on a topic that is only about the API, these terms control for that topic. The safety disclaimers in the Terms, including the section Recall data and safety, apply to every API response.

License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, revocable license to call the API and MCP to search recall notices and, with an eligible account, to use account tools, for personal or legitimate commercial use. You must follow rate limits, the Acceptable Use Policy, and these terms. You may not resell raw recall feeds or offer the Services as your own.

API keys

API keys are secrets. We show the full secret once, when the key is created. We store a hash and a short prefix, not a copy we can show again. You are responsible for keeping keys confidential. Do not embed them in public repositories or client-side code. You can list and revoke keys in the app or with the MCP key tools. Revocation takes effect for later calls. If a key leaks, revoke it and email [email protected].

The MCP signup tool creates an unverified account and one key. It requires an email and accept_terms: true (you agree to the Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and these API Terms). We do not re-issue the secret if that email already has an account. Signing in on the website with the same email verifies the account and raises limits. Quotas are per account, not per key. Protocol methods such as initialize and tools/list do not count as tool calls.

Current published limits (they can change; the live response is the record):

• Anonymous, no key: a few search calls per IP (5 per hour, 15 per day). Image search is not included. After that, sign up or pay with x402.
• Unverified key: 60 tool calls per hour, 400 per day, 1 key, up to 3 watch patterns, no inventory.
• Verified (signed in on the site): 600 per hour, 3,000 per day, 3 keys, 20 watch patterns, 50 inventory products.

x402 payments

After the free anonymous quota, and for image search without a key, callers may pay per request with x402 in USDC on Base. The published price is US$0.025 per call unless a live response states a different amount. Account tools do not accept x402. Pricing is also described in the developer docs and at /.well-known/x402.

Crypto micropayments are final. We do not offer chargebacks or refunds for x402 payments, including payments you send in error, duplicate, or for a result you later decide is not useful. Network fees are yours. We do not control Base, USDC, or your wallet.

Rate limits and fair use

You may not:

• Bypass the paywall, quota, or authentication
• Share keys or use credential stuffing, guessed keys, or another person’s key
• Resell raw feeds or republish our corpus as a bulk download
• Overload the service or evade rate limits with multiple accounts or addresses
• Use the API to build a competing recall database

We may throttle, suspend, or revoke access for violations, including under the Acceptable Use Policy.

Attribution, caching, and republication

You may cache a response for a short time to serve the user who asked for it. You may quote a notice with attribution to the official source and a link to that source (the url on the recall). When you show a Recall Kitchen result to someone else, do not present it as an official government notice. Link the official source. The official notice controls if there is a conflict. Do not strip the source, and do not store our corpus to offer a substitute search engine.

Image endpoints

Image tools accept a public HTTPS URL or a data:image/…;base64 URI (JPEG, PNG, GIF, WebP, or BMP, up to 8 MiB). They do not read local file paths. You grant us the same license as in the Terms to process those images: identify the product, search notices, store a recompressed copy, and, by default, use the image to improve detection. Do not submit images you do not have rights to, images of people for identification, or illegal imagery, including sexual images of minors. We report illegal content involving minors to the authorities as required by law. Retention and opt-out are described in the Privacy Policy.

Warranty and liability

API output is “as is” and “as available.” We do not warrant accuracy, completeness, or timeliness. Recall Kitchen is not a government agency. The warranty disclaimer, liability cap (fees paid to us in the prior 12 months, or US$100 if you paid nothing), and indemnity in the Terms of Service apply to API use. x402 fees count as amounts paid to us.

Suspension

We may suspend keys or block callers that violate these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, abuse the free quota, or threaten the stability of the service. We will restore access when we reasonably can if the problem was a mistake and it has stopped.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Iowa. Venue is the same as in the Terms: state or federal courts sitting in Iowa.
